Art is a mighty source for empowerment!
- Shyane Gladu

Bio

I am an African American visual artist based in Chicopee, Massachusetts. But I am currently a college student at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams Massachusetts. Where I am studying art with a concentration in design, in hopes of pursuing a career as a museum curator or well-known visual artists. Although my life starting off was rough as for being an adopted mixed African American women growing up, I always longed to figure out who I really am. I also moved around lot between the end of elementary school to the beginning of middle school. Due to the sudden death of my stepfather, and since his death, I have had a hard time comminating myself and who I am to the world. Which is where making art comes in as I use my art as a source of empowerment against my past struggles. An I have found that making art about Native American spirit animals very fulfilling as I like to use their meanings as encouragement. In hopes for my overall feelings, I have of being different to hopefully dissipate over time.
